Tasty Eyeball Food

I am only just now going through the incredible array of books I bought, traded or was given, at APE last month. The very next day after the show, I went to PORTLAND for two weeks, where I was given another great book by Graham Annable. SCORE! The totality of my reading stash of graphic wonders now includes the following: [READ MORE…]

APE this weekend!

Once again, it’s time to GO APE. My favourite San Francisco comics-show will be held this coming weekend at the CONCOURSE EXHIBITION CENTER. I will be exhibiting there, at table #108, flanked by friends on either side; John Hoffman will be at #107 (with his crew; Kris Pearn and Craig Berry) while Michael Aushenker and Javier Hernandez will be at [READ MORE…]

APE report

Here is one of the 3 NEW prints I was selling last weekend at the Alternative Press Expo. This was the 2nd time that I’ve exhibited solo at this show and it went very well, financially speaking, perhaps because having the whole space to myself allows me to display more product. I still need to work out the ultimate stripped-down [READ MORE…]

Ape 2010: Table #108

I just bought some portable lightweight stands to hang my CONVENTION BANNERS from. It was a bit of an intelligence test trying to figure out how they work but I prevailed and will use them for the first time at the Alternative Press Expo (APE) this weekend. Mostly these book-shows and conventions provide a backboard behind the exhibitor spaces to [READ MORE…]

APE 2009

Over the past few months, I have formulated a bunch of ideas for mini-comics and longer stories, all in various stages of completion. Just last week it occurred to me that I needed to get something in production for APE. Here is the KAT & TELLY mini comic I made for this Year’s Alternative Press Expo, which happened this past [READ MORE…]

APE 2008

Due to my continuing computer troubles (the meltdown of both my G4 laptop and my backup hard-drive in the same month) I was not able to reprint some of my old mini comics, nor do the scanning and formatting for a new comic that I had planned to release at this years APE convention. Despite all those let-downs I had [READ MORE…]

Free Hugs

Recently there were ELEPHANTS IN THE NEWS book launches in both hemispheres, North and South. Dad launched the Elephant book (plus another book he has just written) at the official book launch in my home-town in Australia. The photo here is courtesy of my Aunty Marg who was instrumental in getting the book published, as it was she who who [READ MORE…]

Boxes of Elephants

My apartment is now home to a herd of elephants. They arrived from New Zealand a short time ago and they will be staying with me at least until this weekend’s A.P.E small-press comics show in San Francisco. (To see all the elephant illustrations that I’ve posted in this blog so far, go here). It is such a relief to [READ MORE…]

An APE in April

People said this year’s Alternative Press Expo was slower than the last, but I heard that last year too. APE used to be first on the Californian convention-calendar, and benefited from the build-up of gomer excitement during the 7 months following Comic Con. That nerd dividend now goes to Wondercon (since the date switch with APE) which may explain the [READ MORE…]

A.P.E. 2005

Even though I spent most of the time at a table hawking my wares, I was still able to find a few gems at this years ALTERNATIVE PRESS EXPO. The debut of the 2nd FLIGHT anthology was a very big deal, and this book is certainly thicker and perhaps even better than the first, so the Flight booth was continually [READ MORE…]
