Pixar RE-releases

3 PIXAR films that were released direct to streaming during the pandemic years of 2020, 2021, 2022 will get proper theatrical runs in 2024.

Pixar Rereleases 2024

First up is a film dear to my heart, “SOUL” directed by Pete Docter. This was the first animated feature film that I worked on, storyboarding with my LEFT hand, after coming back from my stroke. It’s theatrical re-release starts on January 12.

A few weeks later, Domee Shi’s “TURNING RED” gets its theatrical run, starting on February 9. An absolutely hilarious PIXAR film, with a fresh new voice. I am super curious to see how this one does theatrically.

Enrico Casarosa’s “LUCA” comes out on March 22. I worked on this film too. Like “SOUL” we began working on it in the studio but finished production in the work-from-home era. It is a sweet nostalgic film, that had me pining for an Italian childhood that I never actually had.

All of these films were made for the big screen. If you’ve already enjoyed them on telly during the pandemic, I encourage you to watch them again and see them as they were meant to be seen – by audiences in theatres, watching a BIG screen. I’m very happy that they’ll all finally be seen as intended.

Love this line of yours JB! I guess Italy is a tad different to Scotland or the New England Highlands!

    • Ha! Yes! It is strange feeling to have nostalgia for things I don’t have a prior connection to, but it has happened to me quite often. The first time I tasted MISO SOUP for example. I felt like I already knew it..
