Get your paws in the air, you damned, double-crossing, dirty RAT!
The biggie; San Diego’s annual sweaty-nerd get together
San Diego, July 2011: This year, TWO comics related events went toe-to-toe in San Diego; COMIC CON, THE undisputed heavyweight comic book show** and, across the street-car tracks, TR!CKSTER, a scrappy little newcomer that punched way above its weight class. I was involved in BOTH! Which qualifies me (somewhat) to REFEREE the showdown: In the left corner: THE REIGNING CHAMP, [READ MORE…]
COMIC CON, 2010: This year, Rhode & I had thought we wouldn’t be able to follow-through with our recent tradition of a COMIC CON BOOTH THEME; whereby we decorate our booth to look like… well, something other than a boring old Comic Con booth. A bit of silliness that we have been indulging ourselves in for the past 4 years [READ MORE…]
This year Rhode and I tipped our hats to the home-made and hokey quality of con-culture when we adorned our Comic-Con booth with a giant home-made tin-foil robot and dressed ourselves in cheesy outfits with tin-foil trim and retro/future shades. It was very much the “plan 9 from outer space” aesthetic at our booth this time around. “The Future is [READ MORE…]
In celebration of all the glory that is the San Diego COMIC CON, here are some sketches of Con denizens that I drew a few years back… These drawings were all done for the “Field Spotters Guide to Gomers” that a few of us from Maverix Studios published a few years ago to aid in spotting Comic Con wildlife.

It made my pal Rhode laugh so much that I knew I would have to give this drawing to him when I finished it. Then I put it aside for a while and [READ MORE…]
NO Credit? NO Problem! Here, at last, is the Abismo/Nerve Bomb San Diego Comic-Con report for 2007. A COMIC CON trend that some small-press and indie exhibitors complain about is the growing presence of huge media companies using Comic Con as a place to pimp their wares and offer previews of up-coming games, toys, films and books. Their enormous displays [READ MORE…]
I am posting from my hotel here in sunny San Diego. We got down here a day early, on Tuesday, to set up our booth with a minimum of fuss. Last Night was PREVIEW NIGHT here at Comic Con and it went very well for us. In addition to all the left overs from previous years, I have the NEW [READ MORE…]
San Diego’s Comic Con is coming up, and thinking of Comic Con reminds me of booth-gals posing in the most difficult-to-wear costume of all time: The gomer-showdown begins in less than 8 weeks, so I still have some time to prepare new stuff, most likely prints, sketches and maybe a mini-comic. Abismo/Nerve Bomb will be exhibiting in the same great [READ MORE…]
Here are some of the sketches I did while sitting at the Abismo/NerveBomb booth at last months Comic Con. Drawing famous heroes is a first for me, and I had quite a bit of fun doing it. I’ll post some more when I get time. Speaking of Comic-Con, I was only recently able to get my hands on the stuff [READ MORE…]
