Dancing SQUID GIRL

I just returned from San Diego where Maverix Studios members held down a table, and tried to sell our books at the Comic-Con. Here is a sketch I did for Dave Morris’ dancing girls gallery: This year ALL the members of Maverix studios made stuff to sell and we all had some hassles with the printing process this year (to [READ MORE…]

the BLUDGEONATOR!

Well, I’ve been fiddling about on this site since I registered the domain name in september 2001, and it is finally starting to take shape. There isn’t much news to report this early in the game, but one exiting development is that my old Pal Chris Hauge, who has his own studio in Sydney called HALO PICTURES, is currently modelling [READ MORE…]

Squid Girl

I’m back at Maverix and working on comics. A character named SQUID GIRL who appeared in the Rocket Rabbit story in Nerve Bomb Comics last year is the star of the yarn I’m working on at the moment. You can see some pics of her in the Projects section. Her story will be my contribution to Benton Jew’s “Babes in [READ MORE…]

Hubert's Brain

A lot of the the projects that I’ve worked on in the past few years are still in production, or are in some weird political limbo. Either way it means that I can’t show any work that I’ve done on them. A rare example of some recent storyboard work that I can actually show because the project has been finished, [READ MORE…]

Dog from Planet Rex

Samples from a project that I have been working on for a while have been added to the newly expanded and re-arranged “comics” section, under the COSMO link on the side menu. The project is tentatively titled “Cosmo: The Dog from Planet Rex” and will hopefully some day become a children’s book, or perhaps a graphic novel. The story is [READ MORE…]

APE 2002: Fat Batman

This is an image from the “Field Guide to Gomers” which was Maverix studios’ hot seller at last year’s Comic Con and one of the wares that we hawked from the Maverix table at the APE convention here in San Francisco last weekend. Once again Bosco Derek and I valiantly tried to push out books on a room full of [READ MORE…]

The Big Suit

Rocket & the Professor‘s boss; the enigmatic BIG SUIT. This small pink, and naked cigar smoking man happens to be the founder of the top crime fighting franchise of the city of SAN FIASCO,  and Rocket and the Professor’s overseer. In his younger days, when he was a superhero himself, he became famous in his giant mech BATTLE SUIT, but [READ MORE…]

Chihuaraffe

This goofy Chihuahua/Giraffe critter is from the cancelled Frankenstein project, that I worked on at ILM in 1998. It was a great project with a stellar crew of all-stars, and I eventually gave up trying to design cool, tough and scary monsters, and left that to the many experts. Instead, I went for goofy ideas in an attempt to make the directors LAUGH. [READ MORE…]

2001: Year In review

2001: The Year in Review. Here are some personal perspectives on this past twelve months. Highlight: Finally making a self-published comic. Lord knows why I waited so long. the 3 months that I spent at Maverix Studios pounding away on Nerve Bomb issue #zero was one of the most satisfying personal creative periods for me, ever. Bosco, Derek and I [READ MORE…]

Happy Christmas!

I didn’t do a new card this year so here my Christmas postcard from last year (I’ve not posted it here before so hopefully that is OK!). I hope that you have a happy Christmas, Kwanza, Hanuka, Winter Solstice, Festivus or whichever celebration and whatever you like!
